Introduction to the situation
From Virbus
In the first business year you successfully started up your new business hotel. You were able to stabilize the business performance and proved your managerial skills.
Your stakeholders are satisfied, and your investors see a prosperous future for the hotel. For this reason they want to invest more money in your hotel. They ask you for expansion ideas. If your expansion concept convinces them, they will provide you with a certain amount of money which covers fixed assets and working capital.
So far you have only concentrated on the core competence "offering beds for overnight stays". By analysing the first business year performance, you have come to realise that there is a growing demand for food and beverage in your hotel. If you meet this demand of your hotel guests, you probably will be able to attract other customers, too. There is one option for expansion: start-up a restaurant that serves guests of your hotel as well as non-guests!
Your task in game phase II is to start up a restaurant and maximize profit and thereby add value to the business when operating both hotel and a restaurant. By doing this, you will satisfy the expectations of your investors and other stakeholders.
Please note, that hotel (opened in phase I) does not influence restaurant operations in this game.
